Deep in the Heart of Texas....

There is always something going on in our Beautiful City Dallas, TX, and this week it will be something else grand. The George W. Bush Presidential Center, which includes the library and the museum along with 43rd President Policy institute will be dedicated on the Southern Methodist Campus April 25, 2013 at 10am. President Bush and Mrs. Bush will commemorate the completion of the center. President and Mrs. Bush look forward to sharing this historic day with all 5 living Presidents (which we should all know) dignitaries and supporters of  the Bush center. The museum tells the story of the United States in a extraordinary time. Using artifacts, documents, photograph and video. I had the pleasure of speaking to one of my sources at Southern Methodist University about the new "big" kid on the block. They are very excited to be part of history and house the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

The Presidential museum houses thousands of objects given to the president and the first lady throughout the administration along with other material gathered during the Presidents Term. So I know some of you are wondering where do the items come from. Lets go back to grade school for a second and utilize our social studies courses. ( My Father would be really proud of this moment) Well these items that are placed in the museum are gifts received by the President from people across America and other parts of the world. Along with other material gathered during his term. These gifts reflect people, culture ,and viewpoints of the world during the Presidents administration. We can think of it as a very large time capsule.  Now when the President accepts a gift from a foreign head of state it becomes the property of the American people, because he works on our behalf. He may choose to retain some gifts. Gifts from the foreign Head of States though must be purchased at he appraised value if he choose to keep it.. So if the President does not formally indicate his intent to keep, purchase or declare these gifts, they are automatically transferred to the library and the museum  And this how the things get to the museum Guys & Dolls. Class dismissed....

The Hours of the museum will be Monday-Saturday 9-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. The Library will be open to the public starting May 1, 2013 you are able to start purchasing your tickets right now.
