Oh Paula, why couldn't you have just stuck to Pecan Pies, Mac & Cheese and Stuffed Bell Peppers? No amount of butter is going to fix this. The Food Network as of yesterday said, "they will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of the Month." Wow...Deen has been part of the Food Network Family since 2002 with her own show "Paula's Home Cooking"
The 66-year-old Savannah Kitchen celebrity has dug a mighty big hole for herself since court documents filed this week revealed Deen told an attorney that she has used the N-word. But that "It's been a very long time. This situation begin on May 17 when Deen sat down for a disposition in a discrimination lawsuit filed last year by a former employee who managed Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House. This restaurant is owned by Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers. The ex-employee, Lisa Jackson said she was sexually harassed and worked in a hostile environment where innuendo and racial slurs were common. The transcript of Deen's
questioned by an attorney for Jackson shows she was peppered with
questions about her racial attitudes. At one point she's asked if she
thinks jokes using the N-word are "mean." Deen says jokes often target
minority groups and "I can't, myself, determine what offends another
person."
Well as Daily news said, "Stick a fork in this butterball — she’s been deep fried and deep-sixed by the Food Network." She did release a apology video....but it did no good. Hey maybe BET will hire her....sorry I need to stop.
I bet she wished she had watched her words.....Oh well I will still be googling her recipes! Bon Appetit!
