"Chaos to Couture"

The 2013 Met Gala was truly the most swankiest one yet. This annual event kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Arts yearly Costume Exhibit. This is a Red Carpet evening where a bevy of stylish celebrities, models, and Hollywood A-listers arrive dress to impress on the fashion industry's "Night of Nights" The Met Gala is the Oscars of fashion. This year as always you saw a plethora of designers. Some you may love, some you may not love so much. But hey its Hollywood, you have that love hate relationship with her.

The event is hosted by VOGUE (yes think Devil Wears Prada) It is regarded as the top annual social event in New York City. The Met Gala has been an annual affair since the Costume Institute was founded in 1948. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour oversees both the benefit committee and the Guest list. Which is why Kim Kardashian all these years until now was never allowed.... I'm sorry invited to attend the event. Anna Wintour is the not the biggest fans of the Kardashian (not going to go on and on like my father who is also not a huge fan. He said he actually might not read this portion of my blog because of my mentioning her...still love you Dad.)

Every year the event has a theme, this years theme is "Punk: Chaos to Couture". The honorary chair was Beyonce (yes Bow Down) whose very first Met Gala was back in 2008. The evening includes a cocktail hour, formal dinner and of course a lot of loud whispers, "What is she wearing?" Which we all want to know ourselves, "what WAS she wearing?" This year I saw a lot of simple, yet elegant and classic pieces  from Calvin Klein worn by Katie Holmes. Michael Kors which looked dashing on Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino Couture. To the, in my Nene Leakes voice "I am a star....I have arrived and the spotlight is on me." Ok enough chit chat....show me some fashion!

Beyonce....Some people did not like her outfit for the evening. I thought it rocked! Total Chaos to Couture ...granted I am a little partial with her & myself being from Houston, TX. Since the star was the honorary chairwoman (as if she does not have enough to do) I wasn't surprised to see her make a "I'm Gone with the wind Fabulous  grand entrance. Givenchy ensemble gave her the power to do so! The form-fitting, strapless frock flaunted her sexy cleavage while a thigh-high slit revealed boots that as I saw on twitter a lot thought were too matchy. Yes they were the same print....but once again this is something only Queen Bey is allowed to do. All around I give B two thumbs up....she followed theme and truly was Chaos to Couture.

Only SJP...Sarah Jessica Parker to all my non Sex in the City lovers out there can rock a Faux Hawk....and make it look ever so chic. SJP's Mohawk headdress was designed by Phillip Treacy....Although I'm not a huge fan of SJP's dress....I still love her style and her view of fashion.

Classic.....
Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney

Katie Holmes "heavenly" in Calvin Klein

La La Anthony "Lady in Red" in  Zac Posen

Jennifer Lopez "sultry" in Micheal Kors

Classic with a twist......

A little twist......

The following ones were my disappointments for the evenings. I know you are suppose to be a little out there but some of these ladies needed to calm down....
